Stay at the Farm

We welcome visitors to our two delightful but very different cottages, set in idyllic rural surroundings.

You are very welcome to wander around the garden and beside our pond. If any guests are interested in farming we would be delighted to show you around by prior arrangement. If you like walking there is a track right opposite the cottage which takes you up to some stunning landscape with many of the best views in the whole of central Scotland.

Children will love it here. We have our own free range chickens, cattle, and sheep, and can supply eggs and meat as well as fruit and vegetables from the walled garden in season.

The Garden Cottage

Balgonar Garden Cottage was the Estate Chauffeur’s cottage in the mid-19^th Century and was later extended to its current size. The cottage is warm and inviting, offering two spacious double rooms and a large twin room. The master bedroom enjoys impressive views of Saline Hill, where cattle and ponies graze lazily. And if you’re up early enough, you may spot the odd wily fox or deer venturing silently through the morning mist from the glen.

There is a spacious kitchen/diner, complete with oven, hob, microwave and fridge-freezer and the comfortable lounge boasts a warm inviting wood burner. Logs for the wood burner are supplied for you to use.

The Bothy

The Bothy is a bright and comfortable self-catering apartment in a converted stone- built steading perfect for a couple who would like to stay in a quiet rural retreat, yet within just 40 minutes of Edinburgh. It is set in the grounds of our small estate adjacent to the working farm.

You will enjoy total peace and quiet in the Bothy which is on the corner of the farm steading. You are about 30 seconds walk from the house so you have peace without isolation! You will see animals closeby in the fields and in winter in some of the buildings.
